David's interest in efficiency

We were 13 or 14 years old. Most kids our age were out getting jobs serving icecream or selling clothes. David was a bit more imaginative than the average guy.... One night I got a call from David, and he'd had this idea of how we were going to make money during the summer. We were to go to the Circus Club, a private polo and tennis club in Atherton, CA, and we'd ask to be paid to clean all of the horse dung off of the polo field. Then we would put it in large plastic bags and sit on the street corner of Park and Elena, selling fresh fertilizer to the people passing by. I can't remember if the Circus Club turned us down, or if we decided that there simply wasn't enough manure on the field to make it worthwhile, but I really liked David's way of thinking; making a dime on both the front and back ends of the deal. I think you have to know the area to appreciate the greatness here.
