A Story For Caroline - Big Heart for Dad

Caroline, Two winter seasons ago we spent a rainy day together at the cabin in Tahoe. We played all day, making fun snowmen out of cotton balls, building log fences for your toy horses, and coloring. It was the first day, I really met you. I had never experienced so much energy from a 5 year old. You were so fun to be around, we laughed a lot. After lunch you showed me an old coloring/activity book your dad had when he was young. Hannah had kept it all these years. Among other activities the book had a big heart in it. We cut the heart out of the book. Then you colored it, wrote I love you on it, and really took the time to make it very special. You were going to give it to your dad. When you were finished making this special heart –you put it in a safe hiding place, and we moved on to our next activity – most likely something with glitter and lots of talking. The rain came down ALL day long. We let the day go by while your dad and uncles were at ski patrol refresher training. Finally, after a very long day in the rain they came home. Your dad sat down next to the wood stove, just relaxing, and happy after a fun day out. You saw him, sat up from the toys you were playing with, ran and grabbed the heart, and gave it to him. The smile on his face was irreplaceable. He gave you a huge hug and held you for a while. The love he had for you at that moment was so big and so beautiful. Made me smile then and still warms my heart today. A special moment with your dad to remember and cherish. Much Love, Cassie
