David grew up a very active child. He started skiing at the age of two in Verbier, Switzerland and became an avid skier who then joined the Apline Meadows Ski Team and later joined the volunteer Alpine Meadows Ski Patrol when he was 17. This winter season in 2010 was David's 20th year volunteering on the Patrol. His passion and technical first aid capabilites for patrolling were examples of his special mix of heart and intelligence and his generous spirit. David became an Eagle Scout at the age of 14 with 28 merit bages. His curiousity around how things work and ability to learn quickly allowed him to earn the honor of Eagle Scout at a young age. He was an excellent windsurfer, water-skier, and sailor. He loved the underwater world - he was a certified Dive Master with a particular interest in underwater photography. David also played on the water polo team and was a member of the swim team at Menlo Atherton High School.
